Friday, September 23, 2011 Deadline to turn in the 4-H Community Service Survey to the Extension Office. There will be a prize for everyone who turns in a survey.
Friday, September 23, 2011 Outstanding Junior, Outstanding Senior and Danforth Award applications are due in the Extension Office by 4:30 PM. The application can also be e-mailed to Deborah at Deborah.lester@colostate.edu.
Saturday, September 24, 2011 8:00 - 10:00 AM Livestock Awards Breakfast will be held at the Minnick Building at the Fairgrounds in Springfield. Breakfast will be followed by a special guest speaker. Awards for the Beef Carcass Contest and Rate of Gain in each species will be presented.
Saturday, October 1, 2011 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM Interviews will be conducted for the Outstanding Junior, Outstanding Senior and Danforth Award applications. The applicants will be contacted with a scheduled interview time. Interviews will be conducted in person or via Skype if a college student is not able to attend an interview. Interviews will be conducted at the Extension Office. Dress clothes are recommended.
September 30 - October 1, 2011 Fall Leader Forum will be held in Glenwood Springs at the Marriott Residence Inn. This annual event is for 4-H leaders and parents to receive training in a wide variety of topics. Complete information and registration information are available at the Extension Office.
October 2-8, 2011 National 4-H Week. The theme this year is "Join the Revolution of Responsibility".
Saturday, October 15, 2011 6:00 - 10:00 PM The Achievement Banquet will be held at the Minnick Building at the Fairgrounds in Springfield. All 4-H members who have earned awards this year will be recognized. Overall Champion Awards from the fair will be availabe for pick up also. The 4-H Council will provide the meat and rolls. Pritchett Westernaires will be the hosts and will provide the paper goods and beverages as well as set up and clean up. Everyone else is asked to bring a salad, vegetable or dessert to share.
November 11 - 13, 2011 Colorado Leadership Camp will be held in Glenwood Springs. The camp is for 4-H members in grades 6-9. Information is available at the Extension Office.

Tuesday, July 19, 2011 7:00 PM Style Review practice will be at the Pritchett School. Bring your script and shoes. Please no flip-flops. All 4-H members in Clothing, Decorate Your Duds, Knitting, Crocheting and Leathercraft are invited to attend and model in the Style Review.

Wednesday, July 27, 20ll 6:00 PM Following clean-up at the fairgrounds, the 4-H Council is treating all workers to turkey & ham sandwiches for dinner at the park beside the Springfield pool. The 4-H Council is asking for clubs to please bring finger foods such as grapes, watermelon, rice crispy treats, brownies, vegetable trays, etc. Following dinner, there will be swimming until 9:00 PM.
Wednesday, July 27, 2011 All Livestock Record Books are to be turned in to Deborah on Fair Clean-up Day. If a 4-H member can not make it that day and is helping with clean-up on Sunday, August 7, 2011, Record Books need to be in the Extension Office by Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 4:30 PM.

August 11, 12, & 13, 2011 Jonathan Reitz of the Division of Wildlife will conduct a Hunter Safety Class for those needing to pass this course. Please call the Extension Office to be added to the list or contact Mr. Reitz at 719-980-0075. A Hunter Safety card is required before any 4-H youth can participate in the 4-H State Fair.
Wrist bands are being sold by the Baca County Fairboard for $25 for the following events: Monday evening - MWA Wrestling, Wednesday evening entertainment, KPRA Rodeo on Thursday evening, Ranch Rodeo on Friday evening and the Demolition Derby on Saturday evening. Each event if attended is $6.00 each. If you buy a wrist band before the Monday evening entertainment, you will save $5.00 and have a chance in the drawing for $100 for early wrist band sales. Wrist bands can be purchased at the Baca County Extension Office, Baca County Library or any Fairboard member.
The Baca Fair & Rodeo Board is selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a 2012 Can-Am Outlander 400 ATV. The drawing will be held Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 7:00 PM during the Demolition Derby. The winner does not have to be present to claim the ATV. The cost of each ticket is $10.00. See any Baca Fair & Rodeo Board member to purchase a ticket.
Again this year, the Fair Office will be in the south 1/3 of the Blue Building with the entrance on the east side.
Open exhibits of quilts, food, horticulture, crops and floriculture will be in the north 2/3 of the Blue Building with an entrance on the north end.
Interviews and displaying of the 4-H projects will be in the Minnick Building. Open Photography entries will also be in the Minnick Building.
The Baca Fair & Rodeo and Demolition Derby Office will be in the "old" Fair Office under the grandstand. This will be the place where tickets for the inflatables and rides will be sold. Wrist bands will be available for purchasing in this office. Premium money will also be paid from this office under the grandstand from 4:00 - 6:00 PM.
Pictures & scrapbooks of the former Miss Baca County queens are on display at the Baca County Library until after the fair.
The 4-H After School Horse Program will be selling fall bullbs from Flower Power Company. Contact Deborah Lester, Belinda Groner, Kelsie Reed, Kassie Reed, Kanisha Reed, Johnny Reed, Jessica Reed, Jennifer Reed, Becca Groner, Samantha Brobst, Berklea Forrest or Michaela Adams for the fall bulbs.
